High-End Bathroom Remodel

Premium Bathroom Transformation

Nestovate completed a premium bathroom renovation in Ferntree Gully, transforming an outdated and restrictive space into a spacious, modern, and highly functional bathroom. This tailored renovation focused on improving layout efficiency, upgrading services, and integrating high-end finishes to create a refined environment designed for both daily comfort and long-term performance.

The Challenge

The existing bathroom was dominated by an oversized, dated jacuzzi and a compact 800 × 800 mm shower that restricted movement and reduced usable space. The single vanity offered limited storage and functionality, while outdated fixtures, inadequate heating, and poor ventilation further impacted comfort. The overall layout felt heavy and inefficient, and the finishes no longer reflected contemporary design standards.

The Solution

Nestovate carried out a complete redesign and rebuild of the bathroom to maximise space, usability, and visual balance. The old jacuzzi was removed and replaced with a sleek freestanding bathtub, instantly opening the room and creating a more modern focal point. The small shower was upgraded to a generous 1000 × 900 mm enclosure, significantly improving comfort and accessibility.

The single vanity was replaced with a 1200 mm fluted vanity topped with stone and fitted with dual basins and wall-mounted spouts, delivering both luxury and practicality for shared use. Above it, an arched LED mirror was installed to enhance lighting, symmetry, and architectural character.

Two recessed niches were custom-built for storage and visual detail:

  • A 600 × 400 mm niche positioned above the bathtub
  • A 300 × 400 mm niche integrated within the shower

Both niches were finished in grey terrazzo tiles, matching the feature wall installed behind the vanity to create a cohesive design statement.

To improve comfort and performance, new underfloor heating was installed along with a dedicated circuit for a vertical heated towel rail. Ventilation and climate control were upgraded with a 240 m³/hr Newton 2+1 three-in-one heater, light, and exhaust unit in white, plus a separate exhaust system specifically for the shower area.

All wall cornices were removed to allow full-height wall tiling using large-format 600 × 600 mm tiles, giving the room a seamless, modern appearance and enhancing the sense of height and space. New cornices were then installed and professionally painted along with the ceiling in crisp white, creating a clean architectural finish that frames the tiled walls elegantly. Gunmetal tapware was selected throughout, introducing a bold, contemporary contrast against the neutral palette.

The Outcome

The completed bathroom is a sophisticated, spa-like retreat that balances luxury with everyday practicality. Strategic layout improvements, high-performance services, and carefully selected materials transformed the once cramped and outdated space into a spacious, elegant environment. The result delivers superior comfort, enhanced storage, improved lighting and ventilation, and a cohesive modern aesthetic that significantly elevates both usability and property value.

Before & After

This stunning bathroom transformation replaces a dated, utilitarian space with a high-end, contemporary sanctuary that prioritizes both luxury and functionality. The renovation features several significant upgrades:

  • Dual Vanity Conversion: The single drop-in sink on a pink laminate top has been replaced by a sophisticated double bowl setup, featuring two white above-counter basins.
  • Designer Cabinetry: A sleek, wall-hung floating vanity in a warm oak finish provides a modern, airy feel compared to the old floor-mounted cupboards.
  • Premium Surfaces: The vanity is topped with a luxurious marble stone benchtop, while the splashback features elegant terrazzo tiles that extend up the wall.
  • High-End Fixtures: The original basin-mounted taps have been upgraded to stylish wall-mounted spout taps in a trendy brushed nickel finish.
  • Arched Mirror Elements: Two backlit, arched mirrors now define the space, replacing the basic rectangular framed mirror and adding soft, ambient lighting.

This bathroom renovation represents a total evolution from a dated, segmented layout to a streamlined, open-concept spa. By removing the bulky, built-in jacuzzi and its tiled steps, the room has been opened up to accommodate a contemporary three-corner freestanding bathtub. The shower has also seen a significant upgrade, with the old framed enclosure replaced by a sleek 10mm frameless glass shower screen.

The technical and aesthetic details that define this transformation include:

  • Vanity & Plumbing: The original single-bowl vanity with pink laminate has been replaced by an oak-coloured hanging vanity featuring a marble stone top and dual vessel bowls. Below the floating unit, a new minimalist floor drain has been installed to keep the lines clean.
  • Fixtures & Finish: All old chrome hardware has been swapped for premium brushed nickel. This includes modern wall-mounted spout taps that serve the double basins.
  • Tiles & Surfaces: The walls and splashback now feature elegant terrazzo tiles, creating a cohesive, textured look that replaces the old basic white tiling and decorative borders.
  • Lighting & Climate: The ceiling has been modernized with new downlights and a high-performance 3-in-1 HPM heat/fan/light unit. For added luxury, floor heating was installed beneath the large-format floor tiles to ensure year-round comfort.
  • Visual Flair: Two backlit arched mirrors replace the single oversized rectangular mirror, adding soft ambient lighting and architectural interest to the space.
