Complete Three-Bathroom Upgrade with Smart and Modern Features

Phased Renovation Delivering Practical, Stylish Bathroom Spaces

We at Nestovate received a unique enquiry to renovate three bathrooms for a client in Ferntree Gully. The clients were downsizing from a 50 squares double storey house into a single storey house with three bathrooms. Clients wanted us to come up with a solution which would modernise their bathrooms, provide them with functional, aesthetic and clean looking spaces and integrate their colour schemes. Additional layer of complexity involved in this project was due to the customers living in the property while all works were to be conducted requiring us to ensure minimal disruption to their daily life and quick turnaround times.

The Challenge

Key challenges for the bathrooms were reorganisation of space, increased size of showers, removal of baths from two bathrooms as customer did not require them, designing vanities and incorporating smart toilets and subway tiles.

All three bathrooms required relocation of plumbing points to accommodate for modern fittings and efficient use of space. There was insufficient extraction of moisture from the bathroom regularly leading to fogging of mirrors and trail marks on the plaster walls. Due to space limitation, careful and considerate thought was required when working out the details of vanities, showers and toilet seats including where to position towel rails and other fixtures for maximum ease of use and aesthetics.

Additional challenge was to plan all materials and trades to ensure minimal disruption to clients as they were living in the property while the works were being conducted.

The Solution

Nestovate planned the renovation over five weeks, dividing the house into two zones to allow the clients to continue their daily routine with minimal disruption.

The ensuite was completed first within two weeks, including full plumbing relocations to support a more practical and efficient layout. We consulted with the clients throughout and helped select materials and tiles that matched their preferred colours and design style.

The remaining two bathrooms were completed together over the next three weeks. Both spaces were redesigned to include walk-in showers with dual shower heads and niches, keeping all shower items off the floor. All three bathrooms were upgraded with smart toilets, with required electrical and plumbing provisions included. Feature walls with subway and kit-kat tiles added contrast and visual interest to the spaces.

The Outcome

Clients were extremely happy with the smart use of space in all three bathrooms, timely and professional delivery of the project and quality of workmanship. They were content with the fact that all their requirements were met and all the work was carried out in a compliant way while always in consultation with them to ensure they are part of the journey. The new bathrooms look modern, beautiful, spacious and practical and cater for the clients’ needs.

Before & After

Ensuite Makeover

This dramatic renovation breathes new life into a previously cluttered footprint, evolving from a dated design with terracotta-toned flooring and an obstructive layout into a streamlined, high-tech sanctuary. The most significant structural change involved a bold spatial reconfiguration: the original window was blocked to allow for the relocation of the vanity, which now features a sleek, wall-hanging wood-grain unit that frees up floor space and adds modern warmth. To maximize flow, the smart toilet was repositioned and upgraded to a back-to-wall design, making way for a spacious walk-in shower enclosed by a premium 10mm frameless glass screen. The material palette has been completely elevated, swapping old tiles for elegant, large-format marble-veined porcelain floor tiles that add texture and depth. Finished with high-end additions like a wall-mounted heated towel rail and minimalist brushed nickel tapware, this transformation proves that strategic relocation and premium finishes can turn any standard bathroom into a bespoke, light-filled retreat.

Bathroom 1 Transformation

This comprehensive renovation transforms a cluttered, dated bathroom into a streamlined contemporary oasis through a complete spatial reconfiguration and a sophisticated material overhaul. The original layout was hampered by a bulky, framed shower and terracotta-toned floor tiles that visually shrunk the room, but the redesign creates an open-concept feel by introducing a frameless glass walk-in shower and a sleek floating vanity. A major highlight of the project is the strategic relocation of the toilet, which was moved from its original corner to a more ergonomic position under the window; this new setup features a modern smart toilet with a concealed cistern design for a clean, high-tech finish. The aesthetic is anchored by a stunning contrast in textures, featuring soft sage green mosaic wall tiles that add a splash of tranquil color against the elegance of large-format white marble-veined porcelain floor tiles. By combining matte black hardware with these premium stone and glass elements, the once-cramped space is reborn as a spacious, light-filled sanctuary that prioritizes both form and advanced functionality.

Bathroom 2 Transformation

This stunning transformation takes a dated, utilitarian bathroom and reimagines it as a high-end, organic modern sanctuary. The original space was defined by functional yet uninspired white square tiling and a heavy, floor-mounted laminate vanity that made the room feel cramped and boxy. By contrast, the renovation breathes life into the footprint through a sophisticated mix of premium materials and architectural curves. A floating fluted oak vanity with a radiused stone countertop replaces the old cabinetry, instantly opening up the floor plan, while a textured ceramic vessel sink serves as a sculptural centerpiece. The transition from basic chrome to brushed gold wall-mounted tapware adds an immediate layer of luxury, perfectly complemented by a backdrop of vertical kit-kat mosaics and large-format Calacatta-style marble tiles. Crowned by a glowing, backlit circular mirror that softens the room’s clean lines, the final result is a masterclass in using tactile materials to turn a standard suburban bathroom into a bespoke, spa-like retreat.
