Modern Bathroom Renovation with Smart Space Expansion & Laundry Integration
At Nestovate, we specialise in bathroom renovation project coordination that focuses on intelligent space planning, design guidance, and seamless trade coordination. This recently completed bathroom transformation in St Kilda, Melbourne, highlights how thoughtful layout changes and material selection can significantly improve both functionality and aesthetics in an apartment setting.
The Challenge
The existing bathroom was compact with a restricted layout that limited usability and storage options. The goal was to improve spatial efficiency and create better integration of essential services within the apartment footprint.
The Solution
To improve functionality, a partial internal wall was removed to open up additional usable space, allowing for a better layout for the vanity and toilet while improving overall movement within the room.
A 900 x 900 semi-frameless shower screen with sliding doors was installed to maintain a practical shower zone while maximising space efficiency.
Inside the shower, a square tile insert was incorporated for a clean drainage solution and a refined finish.
A back-to-wall toilet with tornado flush technology was selected to achieve a streamlined and modern look, suitable for compact apartment living.
A dedicated washing machine provision was also incorporated into the bathroom layout to improve overall apartment functionality. This was achieved by replacing the existing hinged door with a barn-style sliding door, improving access and space efficiency while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic.
The vanity area features a 390mm deep standing vanity with custom 2-pac cabinetry, designed to maximise storage in a compact footprint. This is paired with a white stone benchtop featuring subtle grey veining, complementing the overall design palette.
All tapware and fittings were finished in matte black to create a consistent modern contrast throughout the space.
New LED lighting was installed to improve brightness and enhance the overall ambience of the bathroom.
The bathroom was finished in 600 x 600 dark grey P3 tiles, which complemented the overall style, with tiling carried through to the ceiling to create a seamless and cohesive finish.
The Outcome
The completed space now feels more open, functional, and visually cohesive, achieved through layout reconfiguration, coordinated trade execution, and carefully selected finishes. The result is a modern apartment bathroom that balances practicality with a clean, contemporary aesthetic.
